Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council has launched two separate consultations which affect our area. In relation to off-street car parking, the proposal is to:

– increase the charges at the High Street (Tesco) and Ryarsh Lane car parks in West Malling

– extend the hours that charging will take place (the High Street car park is exempt from this because of a covenant)

– extend charging to Sundays and Bank Holidays, and

– introduce charges to the Martin Square, Larkfield car park.

The second proposal is to introduce on-street charges in the High Street and Swan Street, West Malling.

The Lib Dem Group is engaging with the West Malling Chamber of Commerce, the Martin Square Traders Association and other interested parties to understand concerns around the proposals.
